10 Day Ski Touring Atlas Mountains of Morocco & Erg Chebbi Sahara Tour

 

 

Day 1: Marrakech.

Arrival at the airport in Morocco. Welcome by our staff. Transfer to the hotel in Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech-Imlil Refuge Toubkal
In the morning, transfer to Imlil (about 60 Km south of Marrakech - about 2 hours driving). Here we meet our guides (food, guide, transport animals). After shipping luggage, we begin our ascent by Mizante Valley. 2270 m above sea level, we reach the village of Sidi Chemharouch, a mountain town, where in the winter months snow boundary starts from this place, the luggage is carried by attendants. After the break of the afternoon, we reach the mountain inn Toubkal- (with 75 places to sleep, last renovation in 2000). Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Refuge - Summit - Refuge.
We leave early in the morning to enjoy the snow still frozen. For the rise, about 4 to 5 hours is required. Starting back country skiing at the shelter, dinner and overnight.

Day4: Refuge - Ras does Ouanoukrim (4083 m) -Refuge.
Starting again. The current rise is approximately 4 hours. The starting ski follows the shelter. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Refuge - Akiod - Imlil.
Ascent of Mont Akiod (3900m), then descent to Imlil Guest House, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Imlil - Tizi nTichka 2260m Ait Benhaddou Ouarzazat - Skoura - Dades gorges
First we cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass of the High Atlas mountains. You will pass through many Berber villages, and once in the desert, riverside oasis and barren hillsides are clustered with Kasbahs. After lunch we drive further to Valley of the Roses, with beautiful views of the Dades valley, valley of a thousand kasbahs. Overnight in Dades.

Day 6: Dads Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga send dunes
After breakfast we drive to Todra Gorge and after a short stop there we drive to the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will arrive there around 4 and after a short break you will ride camels into the dunes, where you will spend the night in berber tents. After seeing a beautiful sunset you will enjoy a fantastic dinner. 

Day 7: Merzouga send dunes – Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah
After viewing the most beautiful sunrise and having breakfast at the camp site you will ride the camel’s back to the auberge. From there it will be a long day driving to Ait Ben Haddou. Ait Benhaddou is a small town with one of the best-preserved and most sought-after Kasbah's to visit in all of Morocco and visit one of the longest valleys in Morocco (Draa valley.

Day 8: Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah - Marrakech
Drive back to Marrakech, again via Tichka pass. You will arrive in Marrakech early in the afternoon.

Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 9: Marrakech - Essaouira
Drive from Marrakech to Essaouira.3 hours driving through the Argan forests and visit some of the local female Cooperatives on the way.

Overnight in a Riad or a Hotel, I will send you all the names of the Accommodations we will use.

Day 10: Essaouira – Marrakech
You will drive back to Marrakech for the last night, in the afternoon Marrakech sightseeing with a local tour Guide.
